Each model is available in several different sizes, usually ranging from 24,000 to 60,000 BTU. Generally, the smaller sizes are quieter and more efficient than the larger sizes. This is why a range of values is listed for the SEER and noise level ratings of each model.
The Lennox XC17 and XC21: The quietest and most efficient central air conditioners you can buy.
If you plan on installing central air conditioning, you might consider installing a heat pump instead. A heat pump is basically an air conditioner that can run in reverse in the winter. In addition to providing cooling in the summer, a heat pump can provide most of your winter heating much more efficiently than a furnace. Visit our heat pumps page to learn more.
