Air Quality

Single-room air purifiers and humidifiers are now popular items in department stores. But you’ll probably find our whole home solutions are a better option. Our systems clean or humidify the air that flows through your ductwork. This means that only one system has to be maintained, rather than several.

Indoor air is typically several times as polluted as outdoor air, with much higher levels of harmful substances such as dust, pollen, dander, mold spores, dust mites, bacteria, odors, and smoke from gas appliances.

According to Lennox, their PureAir air purification system “cleans the air in your home better than any other single system you can buy.” It features a 3 stage process which removes 95% of all particles down to 0.3 microns (0.0003 millimetres or 0.0000012 inches) and over 90% of all bioaerosols (bacteria and viruses) as small as 0.1 microns. Lennox has also performed a study which showed that after a PureAir system was installed in a house, approximately 50% of all household vapors and odors were removed from the air within 24 hours.

First, the air is blown through a MERV 16 rated pleated filter. The MERV rating is a measure of the size of the holes in a filter, and 16 is the highest rating any filter has received (except for HEPA filters- large, expensive filtration systems which do not include the following 2 stages of filtration).

After all of the dirt, dust, pollen, larger microscopic organisms etc. has been removed by the pleated filter, the air passes by 2 UV lights which activate catalysts on the third component of the filter, the metal mesh filter. These catalysts destroy the smaller biological contaminants such as bacteria and viruses.

Humidification

In BC, indoor humidity is usually too low in the winter. Low humidity results in chapped lips and hands, dry skin, dry throught, and damage to wood floors & furniture. On the very coldest days, it can even result in nose bleeds, static electricity, and malfunction of electronics. We can install a whole home humidifier (in homes with ductwork) that will prevent these problems.

We have many other solutions for improving your home’s indoor air quality, and you can call or use or online contact forms to find out more about them.
